Missions Philosophy
We know through the Great Commission that there is a great responsibility to reach the world. What will Christians do with this knowledge? Some, no doubt do nothing at all and will carelessly allow the world around them to perish. This is in direct contrast to God’s approach and philosophy, he is not willing that any should perish. Others will put their knowledge into action because there is a missions philosophy in place.
What is this philosophy? It is the understanding that there is command in place that reflects God’s highest priority, "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life", bringing souls to Christ. With this in mind we seek to be led of the Spirit of God and the pattern set forth in Scripture to develop a means whereby His command is accomplished. This means is what we refer to as Faith Promise Giving.
There are many kinds of philosophies in the world today and it is important to set the purpose and pattern of our philosophy for missions.
-
Our authority comes from the highest source possible. It matters not what the world thinks or feels about our efforts to spread the gospel. (Matt. 28:18-20; Act 1:7,8)
-
The carrying out of God’s message is not our idea but His plan since the beginning. (Isa. 42:1-6)
-
Identifying men called and set apart by the Holy Spirit.
-
Ordaining and approving men approved of God.
-
Sending and supporting men sent out by the local church.
-
Individually giving of self in order to give through Faith Promise Giving.
-
Collectively gathering from surrendered individuals in order to support collectively.
-
Renewing the commitment to give on an annual basis.
-
Sending those funds collected to an approved clearing house. (Local Church or Mission Board)
